On Thursday, June 10 Richmond Public Schools (RPS) will host a Virtual Scholastic Standouts Program, an annual awards ceremony that acknowledges chosen college students in fifth, eighth, and twelfth grades.

These college students have been chosen via a variety course of based mostly on those that have excelled academically, have had excellent attendance, have displayed a optimistic perspective towards studying, and have exemplified the 5 core social-emotional competencies: self-awareness, social consciousness, relationship constructing, accountable resolution making, and nice management skill.

Inspired by John Templeton, a former editor on the Richmond Afro-American newspaper, Scholastic Standouts has acknowledged over 1,600 RPS college students since its inception in 1981.

The ceremony will likely be streamed on the RPS Facebook and YouTube pages beginning at 6:00 PM EST.
