RICHMOND, Virginia (WRIC) – The time capsule of the Robert E. Lee Monument is slated to open over 130 years later. The capsule, which is alleged to comprise confederation-related gadgets, will open on Wednesday lunchtime, in line with Governor Ralph Northam.

Historic preservation consultants will open the capsule within the Department of Historic Resources laboratory on Kensington Avenue in Richmond.

The crews found the capsule on Friday after they dismantled the bottom of the monument. The capsule had beforehand been searched in September however the crews couldn’t discover it, regardless of eradicating elements of the bottom and dug ft underneath the bottom.

Northam stated that when employees efficiently discovered the time capsule final week, it was about 20 ft above the bottom within the base tower. The search had initially solely taken place within the base.
